U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY U.S. COAST GUARD Claims under the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 OMB No. 1625-0067 Exp: 11/30/2011 Who must comply? Anyone that has been adversely affected by an oil spill and seeks compensation for removal costs and damages incurred (e.g., Individuals, Businesses, Federal government, state government, local government, Indian tribes) What is this collection about? This collection supports all claims adjudication activities undertaken by the National Pollution Funds Center (NPFC). The NPFC will use the information collected under this request to determine whether claims submitted to the Fund are compensable from the Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund (OSLTF). For compensable claims, the information collected will also provide the basis for determining the appropriate compensation of removal costs or damages from the OSLTF. Where do I find the requirements for this information? 33 CFR part 136 When must information be submitted to the Coast Guard? Information must be submitted to the Coast Guard before the statute of limitation period under 33 U.S.C. 2712(h) for the particular claim type is reached. Due to the uncertainty of when an oil discharge will occur and who will be impacted, this information is submitted on an “on occasion” basis. How is the information submitted?
