This submission requests approval of
three primary and two secondary data collection instruments that
will be used to collect follow-up data on individuals who are no
longer actively participating in Job Corps. The instruments are
comprised of modules that include questions designed to obtain the
following information: re-verification of initial job and/or school
placements; employment and educational experiences; job search
activities of those who are neither working nor in school; and
information about former participants' satisfaction with the
services.
Job Corps centers' enrollment
has been reduced from approximately 44,000 in PY-12 to 38,000 now.
Therefore the corresponding number of respondents has been reduced,
with the number of completed interviews declining from the previous
OMB submission - from 53,323 total respondents to 48,300 total
respondents. Consequently the burden on respondents has
correspondingly declined from 11,440 hours to 10,240.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding
the proposed collection of information, that the certification
covers:
(i) Why the information is being collected;
(ii) Use of information;
(iii) Burden estimate;
(iv) Nature of response (voluntary, required for a
benefit, or mandatory);
(v) Nature and extent of confidentiality; and
(vi) Need to display currently valid OMB control
number;
If you are unable to certify compliance with any of
these provisions, identify the item by leaving the box unchecked
and explain the reason in the Supporting Statement.
