General Comment
I agree to have Dating Matters implemented. We need this regulation in our communities. I
have witnessed far too many adolescents become victims and perpetrators to violence
ignorantly, passing it down to their children and community. Sex education is a joke in this
country. We need to teach teenagers about situations they will face in life.
Being exposed to violence in one context appears to have crossover effects to victimization and
perpetration in another context. According to the Community and Dating Violence Among
Adolescents: Perpetration and Victimization adolescents are both the perpetrators and victims
of violence in the United States. In the paper "Research indicates that 12--35% of high school
students engage in or are victims of physical violence in a dating relationship. To reduce
violence among adolescents, it is important to identify those most at risk for violence in
different contexts. Several surveys have documented high levels of exposure to violence among
adolescents in the context of the community and the home."
Educating our youth will reduce teen pregnancy, increase graduation, and save money. This will
also make Americans more aware as of people to relationship violence making our communities
safer.
