Dear Permit Owner:
The NOAA Fisheries Service is working to improve its ability to determine the economic effects
of regulatory changes and other factors that impact the Gulf of Mexico and South Atlantic ForHire Charter Fishing industry.
You have been randomly selected to participate in a new survey. Enclosed is a form asking
about trip expenses and operating characteristics on your most recent for-hire trip with paying
passengers.
Your participation in this survey is voluntary, but vital to generating much needed data on the
economic situation of your industry. Little is currently known about the economic health of the
for-hire industry. Your information on recent trip expenses and trip fees will aid future
management decisions and help better understand potential economic effects of proposed
regulation.
A pre-addressed, postage-paid envelope is enclosed. All information supplied will be
safeguarded from improper access and will only be accessible to authorized personnel
responsible for management and research of fisheries under the authority of NOAA. If you wish
to receive the survey results once the data have been analyzed, please make note of this
anywhere on the survey.
If you have any questions or require help filling out the survey, please contact Adam Stemle or
Christopher Liese at (305) 361-4209.
Thank you very much for your cooperation with this data collection and wishing you tight lines
and a good fishing year.

Sincerely yours,

Adam Stemle
