The proposed requirements implement
section 706 of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, to
promote deployment of advanced services without significantly
degrading the performance of other services. In CC Docket No.
98-147, the Commission solicits comment on whether requesting
carriers should receive demographic and other information from
ILECs to determine whether they wish to collocate at particular
remote terminals. In CC Docket No. 96-98 comment is sought on
whether ILECs should provide certain notifications to competing
carriers.

The Commission is reporting
adjustments/decreases to the number of respondents from 1,200 to
750 (-450) and to the annual burden hours from 4,800 to 3,000
(-1,800). The adjustments/decreases are based on the Commission not
taking into account the exemption available to rural LECs from
complying with obligations imposed under section 251(c) of the Act.
See supra note 1. Also, there is an increase of 300 to the number
of annual responses (from 1,200 to 1,500). This increase is due to
the Commission making a correction to this figure from the previous
submission to OMB.
