Under Section 2(d) of the Railroad
Retirement Act, monthly survivor annuities are payable to surviving
widow(er)s, parents, unmarried children, and in certain cases,
divorced wives (husbands), mothers (fathers), remarried widow(er)s
and grandchildren of deceased railroad employees. The collection
obtains information needed by the RRB to determine entitlement to
and the amount of the annuity applied for.

The total annual responses have
decreased by 237, from 3,722 to 3,485, and the burden hours have
decreased by 179, from 1,494 to 1,315. Removing manual Forms AA-17,
AA-18, AA 19, and AA 20 from the information collection decreases
the annual responses by 122 and the burden hours by 95. Also, due
to record keeping which allows for an accurate count, we have
decreased the AA-17b and AA-19a annual responses by 30 and 85
respectively and the burden hours by 20 and 64 respectively. We
have shown these decreases as an adjustment.
