The Crab Economic Data Report (EDR)
Program is administered by NMFS through contracts with Pacific
States Marine Fisheries Commission. The EDRs were developed to
analyze the effects of the Crab Rationalization (CR) Program,
including changes to the costs of production and the effect of
consolidation. The information collected in the EDRs is intended to
provide comprehensive data to analysts to examine changes in
resource utilization, excess harvesting and processing capacity,
economic returns, variable costs and revenues, economic efficiency,
and the stability of harvesters, processors and coastal
communities. The EDRs include cost, revenue, ownership, and
employment data in order to study the economic impacts of the CR
Program on harvesters, processors, and affected
communities.
