Privacy Act Statement
Collection and Use of Personal Information
Sections 205 and 1106 of the Social Security Act, as amended, and the Privacy Act of 1974
(5 U.S.C. § 552a) authorize us to collect this information. We need this information to register
you or your company and your authorized employee(s) to use our system for verifying Social
Security numbers (SSN) and to contact you, if necessary.
Furnishing us this information is voluntary. However, failing to provide us with all or part of the
information may prevent you or your company from using the service.
We rarely use the information you supply us for any purpose other than to register you or your
company and your authorized employee(s) to use our system for verifying SSNs and to contact
you. However, we may use it for the administration and integrity of our programs. We may also
disclose the information to another person or to another agency in accordance with approved
routine uses, including but not limited to the following:
1. To comply with Federal laws requiring the release of information from Social Security
records (e.g. to the Government Accountability Office and Department of Veterans
Affairs);
2. To facilitate statistical research, audit, or investigative activities necessary to assure the
integrity and improvement of Social Security programs;
3. To respond to a request from a Congressional office or the Office of the President made
to that office at the request of the subject of a record; and
4. To other Federal agencies and our contractors, including external data sources, to assist
us in efficiently administering our programs.
