A message from the Director, U.S. Census Bureau
The U.S. Census Bureau is conducting the 2015 Annual Survey of School System Finances (Form
F-33) jointly with the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). We conduct this survey in
order to make available up-to-date school district finance data essential to the work of the U.S.
Congress, state legislators, government finance officers, education research organizations, and many
others. The purpose of this message is to officially announce the opening of the data collection for FY
2015.
The Census Bureau conducts this survey and requests your voluntary assistance under the authority of
Title 13, United States Code, Sections 8(b), 161, and 182; and Title 20, United States Code, Sections
9543-44. We estimate this survey will take 86 hours to complete if responding using the codes on the
survey form, or 14 hours to complete if using state education agency codes. On the back of this letter
you will find disclosure descriptions regarding Office of Management and Budget number, authority
and confidentiality, and burden estimate statement.
Public records retained from this collection do not require confidentiality under provisions of Title 13,
United States Code, Section 9(a).
