Hi Diana,
As long as your project fits the description of Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement activity with non‐clinical practice
focus and is not to conduct research, you may proceed without obtaining OHSRP approval.
Please keep pages 2 ‐3 for your records.
Thank you.

Subject: Exemption from IRB Review
Good Afternoon,
The National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) is beginning the process of submitting for OMB review, an online
survey to get feedback on its Palliative Care: Conversations Matter® campaign.  To learn more about the campaign visit
https://www.ninr.nih.gov/newsandinformation/conversationsmatter/conversations‐matter‐newportal.
NINR reviewed OHSRP’s Request for Determination Form and upon answering the initial questions in the attached form,
determined that we do not need to seek IRB review.
Could you please confirm in an email back to us that we are exempt from IRB review, so we can use this email as
evidence when submitting our OMB submission? Please let me know if you have any further questions or need any more
information.
Thank you for your help,
1
