Script: Thank you for taking part in this project. I am going to ask you some questions about berries in and around your community and some questions about you. Before we get started I need to read you information about your rights as a participant in this study.

Privacy Act Statement: You are not required to provide your contact information in order to submit your survey response. However, if you do not provide contact information, we may not be able to contact you for additional information to verify your responses. If you do provide contact information, this information will not be shared with any other organization and will only be used to initiate follow-up communication with you if needed. The records for this collection will be maintained in the appropriate Privacy Act System of Records identified as [DOI Social Networks (Interior/USGS-8) published at 76 FR 44033, 7/22/2011].

Next I am going to read you some statements about salmonberries, blackberries, blueberries, and red berries. Many of the statements will be the same for each berry, but some will be specific to one type of berry. Please tell me if you agree or disagree with each statement by saying “yes” or “no”. If you do not know please say “don’t know” and try to avoid guessing. Do you have any questions?
