Previous terms of clearance remain in effect. In addition, this ICR should have been submitted as an extension without change because all changes are classified as adjustments instead of program changes.

The collection of information is used by FRA to improve safety by gathering data from the public regarding alleged or perceived violations of Federal safety and hazardous materials laws and regulations. FRA follows-up on forms submitted by the public with further contact by an agency representative to determine whether such violations have actually taken place. Where violations are verified, FRA will take appropriate measures to ensure safety and prevent future violations.
As noted in the answer to question number 15 of the attached Supporting Justification, the burden for this information collection has increased by 30 hours from the previously approved submission. The change in burden is due solely to an adjustment (revised estimate) for the number of forms (Form FRA F 6180.151) that will be completed each year (from 300 to 480). This adjustment increased the burden from 50 hours to 80 hours. There are no program changes at this time.
The current FRA OMB inventory shows a total burden of 50 hours for this collection of information, while the present request exhibits a total burden of 80 hours. Hence, there is a total increase of 30 hours for this information collection.
There is no change in costs to respondents from the previously approved submission.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that the collection of information encompassed by this request complies with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR 1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding the proposed collection of information, that the certification covers:
