The work session will include review
and discussion of the Council’s adopted
alternatives and other reports.
Although nonemergency issues not

meeting. The work session will be
restricted to those issues specifically
listed in this notice and any issues
arising after publication of this notice
that require emergency action under
section 305(c) of the Magnuson-Stevens
Fishery Conservation and Management
Act, provided the public has been
notified of the GEM committees’ intent
to take final action to address the
emergency.

evaluation methodology. The
subcommittee will discuss the author
recommendations and develop JPT
recommendations that will be presented
to the SSC and Council at their April
2017 meeting in Anchorage, AK.
Meeting materials will be made

Needs and Uses: Extension of an
approved collection is requested.
Pursuant to the High Seas Driftnet
Fishing Moratorium Protection Act
(Moratorium Protection Act) or the
Marine Mammal Protection Act
(MMPA), if certain fish or fish products
of a nation are subject to import
prohibitions to facilitate enforcement,
the National Marine Fisheries Service
(NMFS) requires that other fish or fish
products from that nation that are not
subject to the import prohibitions must
be accompanied by certification of
admissibility. A duly authorized
official/agent of the applicant’s
Government must certify that the fish
being imported into the U.S. are of a
species that are not subject to an import
restriction of the U.S. If a nation is
identified under the Moratorium
Protection Act and fails to receive a
certification decision from the Secretary
of Commerce, products from that nation
that are not subject to the import
prohibitions must be accompanied by
certification of admissibility. Likewise,
if a nation does not receive a
comparability finding for a fishery
under the MMPA, products from that
nation that are not subject to the import
prohibitions must be accompanied by
the certification of admissibility
