Dear Mr./Mrs.,
I am Jingjing Qian, PhD, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Outcomes Research and
Policy (HORP) at the Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy. I would like to invite you to
participate in my research study that aims to better educate groups influencing generic drug use, based
on their unique educational needs. This study is funded by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (U.S.
FDA grant #U01FD005486). As part of our study, we are conducting focus groups among a variety of
stakeholder groups. The purpose of these focus groups is to obtain feedback on examples of
educational materials regarding generic drugs tailored for one of the three stakeholder groups. Your
feedback would be very helpful to our research and very much appreciated. You may participate if you
are 19 years or older and consider yourself to be one of the following:
•

Formulary manager (hospitals, pharmacy benefit managers, other), large purchaser of
pharmaceuticals (e.g., for hospitals, retail group purchasing), or policymaker (local, state or
federal level)

As a participant, you will be asked to attend a focus group (approximately 60 minutes) at Auburn
University main campus (Auburn, AL, 36849) to provide your thoughts on the content, format, channel,
and satisfaction of one example of an educational material about generic drugs developed for your
stakeholder group. Any information collected as part of the focus group will remain confidential and will
not be shared with anyone outside of the research team. To thank you for your time spent participating
in this study, you will be offered an honorarium of a $25 mailed check after the completion of the focus
group.
If you would like to participate in the focus group this summer or early fall, please fill out the brief
interest form by clicking this link: https://auburn.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_2mf5HQoC4Rw6YD3.
Our research team will contact you regarding the date and time for the focus groups. You may also
reach me by emailing [email protected] or by calling me at (334) 844-5818 for more information or
questions regarding this study.
Thank you for your consideration.
