Additional Information Regarding the Collection Instrument
We will use Form SSA-8240 to collect authorization to obtain wage and employment information from payroll data providers via the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2015, Section 826 (BBA 826) Internet application once the application becomes available.
Justification: The BBA 826 Internet application will allow SSDI beneficiaries to report earnings via the Internet, similar to the Internet application currently available to SSI recipients. We will implement the BBA 826 Internet application in several releases. SSA scheduled the functionality to collect authorization for SSA to obtain wage and employment information from payroll data providers for a future release. We will obtain OMB approval for the BBA 826 Internet application prior to including the burden for the SSA-8240 respondents. We are currently in the process of creating the BBA 826 Internet application, and obtaining OMB approval for it.
