C.1 - Industry Interviews: Initial Recruitment Email
Hello,
Mr. Art Burger of Burger, Carroll & Associates, Inc. recommended that we contact you. On behalf of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Service (USDA FNS), RTI International is conducting a small number of telephone interviews with point-of-sale (POS) equipment vendors. The purpose of the interviews is to help determine the technological requirements and costs of implementing scanning technologies at Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)–authorized stores. The Agricultural Act of 2014 (aka the 2014 Farm Bill) will require the use of technology that automatically determines whether items are SNAP-eligible at the checkout counter when customers pay with an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card.
We would like to schedule a telephone interview with you to learn more about the functionality and cost of scanning technologies sold by your company. The call will last about an hour, and we would like to schedule it WEEK MONTH. Participation is voluntary and there are no penalties if you decide not to participate in part or whole. By participating, you will provide invaluable information on available scanning technologies that could be used to meet the Farm Bill requirements.
The information you provide will be kept private. Your name and responses will not be share with anyone outside the research team, except as otherwise required by law. We will not use your name or the name of your company in any study report. Results will be summarized across all companies and will not be linked to you or your company.
Please reply to this email to confirm your interest in taking part in an interview, and we will schedule an interview date and time that works best for you. If you have any questions regarding the study, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Catherine
