Dear
Click
here to enter text.,
The
Wisconsin Department of Health Services and the Survey of the Health
of Wisconsin invite you to participate in the Milwaukee
Angler Project,
a project to measure chemicals in people who eat fish. Your name was
randomly chosen from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources
(DNR) fishing license database.
What
is the purpose of this project? The
purpose of this project is to measure the amount of chemicals in
people who eat fish caught from lakes and rivers near Milwaukee. We
also want to know what types of fish and how much fish people in the
Milwaukee area eat. In the future we hope to use the results of this
project to protect people from exposure to chemicals in the
environment.
What
does participation involve? Participating
in this project includes completing a questionnaire and attending one
in-person appointment. At the appointment you will be asked to give
blood, urine and hair samples. A staff member will also measure your
height, weight and waist circumference and do a blood pressure check.
If you are interested in participating, you need to complete a few
screening questions. If you are eligible to participate, a staff
member may contact you in the next few weeks. You can answer these
screening questions online at [INSERT
URL] or
you can fill out the second page of this mailing and return it to our
office.
What
costs are involved? Will I be compensated for my time? The
only cost to you is the 1-2
hours
it will take to complete the project. We will give you up to $60
in gift cards as a thank you if you complete the entire project.
If you have questions please email [email protected] or contact Brooke Thompson at 608-261-9325.
Sincerely,
Program Manager, Wisconsin Department of Health Services
