2. Collection of Information Employing Statistical Methods

Refer to the attached LAUS Program Manual for details.

Beginning in 2018, LAUS will be implementing improvements to the current 4^th Generation of LAUS State Models. Improvements include: newly calculated generalized variance functions (GVFs), along with associated error measures, will be used in production of LAUS estimates; seasonal factors calculated from benchmarked not-seasonally adjusted estimates; and a switch to a Reproducing Kernel Hilbert Space (RKHS) filter for the calculation of smoothed seasonally adjusted estimates. These changes are addressed in LAUS Technical Memorandum S-17-19.

Beginning in FY 2018, LAUS implemented a modification to the estimation framework that supports the city- and town-based geography of the New England states. These changes are addressed in LAUS Technical Memorandum S-17-20.
