NASS Review and Response to Comments

Comment (A. Justification and B. Statistical Methods): It was mentioned in the supporting statement documents (A. Justification and B. Statistical Methods) that education levels will be used to further segment the focus groups set-1 to increase the homogeneity within the groups. However, it was not clearly stated in the supporting documents whether education levels will also be used in set-2 of the focus group for further segmentation purpose.

Response: In both sections (A. Justification and B. Statistical Methods), we revised the text to indicate that we are not segmenting the set-2 groups by education level. Additional segmentation is not needed to address the research questions for the set-2 groups. We are interested in collecting information on the study topics regardless of the participant’s education level. Also, consumption of some of these foods may be correlated with education level so it would not be appropriate to segment by education level (e.g., consumption of chicken liver pâté may be more common among college-educated people).
