SUBJECT:

OPA/DMDC Recommendation of Millennium Cohort Surveys for
OMB Approval (OMB # 0703-0064)

As requested, we have reviewed the subject study protocol and it’s supporting materials
as part of the OMB submission process through WHS. The technical concerns raised in our
reviews have been addressed. Our recommendation to WHS/ESD is that the revisions to the
study protocol and the data collection materials are sufficiently designed and developed in order
to be sent forward as required to obtain OMB approval for the revisions for this Public
Information Collection.
Our recommendation for approval recognizes that a waiver has been obtained from the
Office of the Undersecretary of Defense (Personnel & Readiness) to allow the inclusion of sexual
orientation and related questions on the Member version. This waiver has NOT been obtained
for the Family survey so sexual orientation and related items will NOT be included on the Family
version until and if the required reviews and approvals are obtained.
