The Bureau of Land Management (BLM)
collects and uses the information to determine the validity of a
claim under the Color-of-Title Act. The following forms comprise an
application in support of a Color-of-Title claim: (a) 2540-1,
Color-of-Title Application; (b) 2540-2, Conveyances Affecting Color
or Claim of Title; and (c) 2540-3, Color-of-Title Tax Levy and
Payment Record. A respondent must submit all of the forms
concurrently, or the BLM will reject a claim as
insufficient.
There are no program changes.
There is one adjustment. The number of responses for individuals is
6. That is an increase of 1 response over the 5 responses for
individuals that were approved previously. The net effect is a
total of 8 responses for this control number, compared to 7 total
responses previously. That adjustment is due to the BLM’s recent
experience with this collection of information.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding
the proposed collection of information, that the certification
covers:
(i) Why the information is being collected;
(ii) Use of information;
(iii) Burden estimate;
(iv) Nature of response (voluntary, required for a
benefit, or mandatory);
(v) Nature and extent of confidentiality; and
(vi) Need to display currently valid OMB control
number;
If you are unable to certify compliance with any of
these provisions, identify the item by leaving the box unchecked
