Get Vaccinated Against Anthrax
FREE anthrax vaccine is now available
CDC recommend vaccination for people 6 weeks of age or older who may have come in contact with anthrax.
For the best protection, CDC recommend getting the anthrax vaccine and taking all antibiotics given by officials.

What you need to do
1. Get the vaccine as soon as you can

The vaccine comes in a series of 3 shots given over 4 weeks.
• Get shot 1 – wait 2 weeks
• Get shot 2 – wait 2 weeks
• Get shot 3 and you’re done
If there is a shortage of anthrax vaccine, public health officials may recommend getting the shots on a
different schedule.

2. Keep taking antibiotics

Keep taking the antibiotics you were given, even while you are getting your shots. If you miss a dose, take it as
soon as you remember, and then continue to take the medication on schedule.

The anthrax vaccine and antibiotics together are the best protection against
anthrax. Do not stop taking the antibiotics you were given unless directed to
by officials.
