Federal Communications Commission
Explanation of Non-Substantive Changes to OMB Control Number: 3060-0798:
Rules governing FCC Form 601.
Purpose of this Submission: This submission documents a non-substantive revisions to an existing information collection pursuant to 44 U.S.C. § 3507. On November 22, 2017 the Commission released a SECOND REPORT AND ORDER, SECOND FURTHER NOTICE OF PROPOSED RULEMAKING, ORDER ON RECONSIDERATION, AND MEMORANDUM OPINION AND ORDER in GN Docket No. 14-177 which established rules for the 24 GHz service. This service was moved from Part 101 to Part 30 of the FCC Rules and reconfigured to define market areas using PEA’s instead of EAs with seven contiguous channels instead of five paired channels. This change will increase the number of licenses available for auction in the 24 GHz service from 880 to 2,912.
There are no changes to the form 601 questions, information provided or instructions. Since wining auction participants file a single 601 application form for all the licenses they win, in the auction, we do not anticipate that this change will impact the form 601 burden. The additional license information will be automatically populated from the applicant’s auction application to the form 601.
