The survey produces estimates of
revenue and expenses, and for selected industries: products,
inventories, and revenue from exported services. Data is collected
from businesses or other for-profit organizations, not-for-profit
institutions, and government hospitals in the United States. These
data are needed for national income accounting, productivity, and
price measurement. The data also provides a sound statistical basis
for the formation of policy by various governmental agencies. The
program addresses the highest priority needs of multiple Federal
agencies and private users.
The large burden decrease is
due to the condensed version of the operating expenses question
that will appear on all SAS forms. This expense item accounts for a
large portion of the burden for all SAS forms, hence the decision
to shorten the operating expense question beginning in non-Economic
Census years. As previously mentioned, the telemedicine question
only impacts six healthcare forms and adds an additional 30 minutes
to each.
