Campus Interview Guide

The goal of these interviews is to collect information regarding campus’ experiences with the OWH College Sexual Assault Policy and Prevention Initiative. Questions in this discussion guide include overarching discussion questions with sub-questions to provide details.



Introduction.

The goal of this interview is to learn about campus programmatic and policy development in relation to the College Sexual Assault Policy and Prevention Initiative (CSAPP), funded by the Office on Women’s Health. The findings from this interview will inform a final report, developed by NORC at the University of Chicago, detailing major accomplishments from the Initiative, any problems encountered, and lessons learned. This interview is not evaluating you or the success of your Initiative, but rather to inform future programs and prevention initiatives.

You may know the CSAPP Initiative as [INSERT GRANTEE PROGRAM NAME HERE]. In the course of this interview, would it be clearer to use this name to refer to the project?

Background and Context

  1. First, can you tell me about your role at [UNIVERSITY NAME], and how you interpret your role in relation to the CSAPP Initiative?

  2. Were there any critical/sentinel local events that might have affected the project or student population? (e.g., a change in key leaders/champions; a change in other funding; media coverage of sexual assault)

  3. How does the CSAPP Initiative fit with your other sexual assault prevention Initiatives past and present?

    1. Are CSAPP activities the main source of prevention programming on campus? Are there other Initiatives occurring simultaneously?

    2. Has the CSAPP Initiative changed your campus’ approach to sexual assault prevention, programming, and policy? If so, how? (PROMPTS: e.g., kicked off entirely new campus programming; expanded existing efforts; addressed policy issues that were not being addressed; etc.)

  2. Can you describe any barriers you faced in implementing prevention programs, if any?

Crime Statistics

  1. Over the course of the CSAPP Initiative, it looks like the rate of sexual assault on your campus has [increased/decreased/remained the same INSERT REPONSE FROM QPR SECTION 10 HERE], to what do you attribute to this change in reported sexual assault rates?

  2. In your opinion, have you seen an overall change in the climate regarding sexual assault (and/or sexual assault reporting) on your campus?
