Justification for Emergency Clearance

On June 10, 2009, President Obama plans to call on Americans to get involved in their communities this summer through the initiative, United We Serve. Individuals and organizations will be directed to Serve.gov to register projects, learn about opportunities to get involved, and find toolkits that will provide instructions on how to organize your own project. This project registry and management tool will be the intake mechanism for individuals answering President Obama’s call to service.

Justification for Increase in Burden

The burden of this collection will increase because of the increased attention to service and volunteering by the President and First Lady as well as elected and appointed officials across the country, thereby increasing the numbers of individuals and organizations that will be asked to use serve.gov.  We also expect the usage to increase because individuals as well as organizations can now utilize the site for promoting projects and registering volunteers.  Time to complete the form could increase because of question changes.
