Non-Substantive Change Request to CMS-10638

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services PRA for the Add-On Payments for New Medical Services and Technologies Paid Under the Inpatient Prospective Payment System; OMB Control No. 0938-1347

This is a non-substantive change request to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) PRA for the Add-On Payments for New Medical Services and Technologies Policy (CMS-10638) which allows CMS to collect data via an application in order for CMS to determine if an applicant is eligible for add-on payments for new medical services or technologies for an upcoming fiscal year. This collection is in accordance with the regulations at 42 CFR 412.87 and is currently approved under OMB Control No. 0938-1347 which expires on December 31, 2020.

We are increasing the number of respondents to 32 respondents per year and the burden will be adjusted accordingly. The increased number of respondents is necessary to accommodate the upward trending number of applications that have been received since the approval of this collection.

We consider increasing the number of respondents under this collection to be nonsubstantial since it does not constitute changes to the intent or substance of the application nor does it change the burden estimate per individual applicant. All of the application documents, the applicant requirements, and the time estimates per applicant for this collection remain unchanged.
