Listening Session Guiding Questions

Intro:

NCI contracted ICF to conduct a feasibility study for child care for the two locations in Frederick and Shady Grove. Part of that feasibility study is to hear from employees about the child care needs of their families. Today we are hoping to hear from you. We feel like hearing your stories and perspectives is very important and we want to hear you input.

Melissa, Karen and Alexis introduce selves.

We are conducting a series of listening sessions to get a better understand of the child care needs for NCI families. We are circulating a survey monkey link and asking families to share with us their individual child care stories—needs and wants.

The purpose of the meetings is hear from you around five main questions. Alexis is serving as our note taker today and will be working hard to capture your thoughts and ideas. Please feel free to speak up and share your ideas. We are interested in hearing all of your ideas—especially those outside the box ideas.

Questions:

  1. What do we need to know about the situation of child care for NCI families?

    1. What do you see as the child care issues for NCI staff?

  2. Are there any trends that effect child care needs?

    1. Organizational culture

    2. Current staff and possible new hires

    3. Campus/community characteristics

  3. What do you see as the child care challenges for NCI families?

    1. Consequences to those challenges?

    2. Who else is effected by these challenges—work challenges?

    3. Any opposition to how we meet the needs?

  4. What resources are you aware of that we should be tapping into?

    1. NCI

    2. Community

  5. What are your creative-outside of the box ideas to meet the NCI family child care needs?

As we begin to wrap up our time together today, I would like to finish out with one last question. Is there anything you think you have missed and specifically is there is anything else you think we need to know or investigate?
