Addendum to the Supporting Statement for Technical Updates to Applicability of the

Minor Revisions to the Collection Instrument

SSA is making the following revisions:

• Change #1: We are revising the Privacy Act Statement on this form.

Justification #1: SSA’s Office of the General Counsel is conducting a systematic review of SSA’s Privacy Act Statements on agency forms. As a result, SSA is updating the Privacy Act Statement on the form.

• Change #2: We are replacing the old Modernized Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Claims System (MSSICS) screens with the new SSI Claim System screens.

Justification #2: We no longer use the MSSICS screens, as we have replaced the old, legacy system with the new, Intranet-based SSI Claim System. The SSI Claim System is easier to read, and is more user friendly for our claims representatives. The SSI Claim System shows the same questions in exactly the same order as the MSSICS screens. There is no change for the respondent, as the interview flow remains the same, and the respondent never sees the screens (they never saw the MISSICS screens, and will not see the SSI Claim System screens).
