SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: CBP
invites the general public and other
Federal agencies to comment on the
proposed and/or continuing information
collections pursuant to the Paperwork
Reduction Act of 1995 (44 U.S.C. 3501
et seq.). This process is conducted in
accordance with 5 CFR 1320.8. Written
comments and suggestions from the
public and affected agencies should
address one or more of the following
four points: (1) Whether the proposed
collection of information is necessary
for the proper performance of the
functions of the agency, including
whether the information will have
practical utility; (2) the accuracy of the
agency’s estimate of the burden of the
proposed collection of information,
including the validity of the

Collection
Title: Declaration for Free Entry of
Unaccompanied Articles.
OMB Number: 1651–0014.
Form Number: Form 3299.
Abstract: 19 U.S.C. 1498 provides
authority to prescribe rule and
regulations for the declaration and entry
of certain merchandise. Under this
statutory authority, U.S. Customs and
Border Protection requires that, when
personal and household effects enter the
United States but do not accompany the
owner or importer on his/her arrival in
the country, a declaration is made on
CBP Form 3299, Declaration for Free
Entry of Unaccompanied Articles. The
information on this form is needed to
support a claim for duty-free entry for
these effects. This form is provided for
by 19 CFR 148.6, 148.52, 148.53 and
148.77. CBP Form 3299 is accessible at:

being made to extend the expiration
date with no changes to the burden
