The FAA has seen an increased number of sUAS registered under Part 107 since this Information Collection was last reviewed. When last submitted for approval in April 2018, there were 110,604 sUAS in the Part 107 fleet. The FAA Aerospace Forecast projected there to be no more than 229,506 by the end of 2019. Currently, there are over 400,000 sUAS registered under Part 107. Due to this increase, the FAA expects the annual number of Airspace Authorization respondents to increase to 264,963 from the 67,705. The FAA also expects there to be an increase in the number of respondents seeking Operational Waivers due to the increased number of Part 107 sUAS from 5,056 annually to 8,034. There is expected to be decrease in the number of Airspace Waivers respondents from 8,240 annually to 2,819. This decrease is likely due to the expanding availability of LAANC, which great reduces the burden on those seeing to fly in controlled airspace.
