The survey is used to obtain fiscal
year data on expenditures relating to biomedical research and
development awards and to update and re-base the BRDPI. Data are
obtained from organizations which are recipients of biomedical
research and development awards from the National Institutes of
Health.
No change to burden per
response. The increase in burden is due to an increase in the
number of responses. The previously approved number of responses
was based on an expected 80 percent response rate, while the number
now reflects all the respondents in the sample. Survey response
rates have been steadily increasing as respondents have become more
familiar with the survey and BEA has made efforts to communicate
the importance of the survey.
