(These instructions will be shared at the beginning of the day, ~9:15 a.m., Thursday Dec 5 and accompany the Seeking Opportunities Handout)

I’d like to draw your attention to the “Seeking Opportunities for Cross-Project Collaboration” handout that is in the left-hand pocket of your folder, and ask you to take it out. You can use this sheet, if you like, to jot down notes while other grantees are presenting. We’re hoping that you will be actively listening to other grantees to identify projects that have similar policy questions to yours or take similar research approaches. For example, if you are developing a survey of the perceptions of the ECE workforce on recent professional development experiences, and you hear another project is doing a somewhat similar survey, that’s something to jot down as a possibility for collaboration (such as possibly developing similar measures), or as a topic for shared learning where you might learn from each other’s experiences, perhaps in a one-to-one conversation or through a group discussion facilitated by the Center.

Please view this handout as an invitation, not a requirement. We will not ask you to turn it in. It’s for your notes, and if it’s useful to you, as a handout to take back home. However, please note that when we discuss Community of Practice plans at the end today, we will have a brainstorming session about opportunities for collaboration and topics for shared learning. So, jotting down ideas under #3 may help you participate in that brainstorm. Also, I have used handouts like this in a past meeting, and I’ve noted that jotting down the names of people you want to connect with, as in #4, can be helpful.

We invite you to jot down notes while listening to the other grantees’ presentations. This sheet is for you only. However, at end of day, we will ask everyone to share ideas for future discussion topics for the CoP (#3).
