SUPPORTING STATEMENT – PART B

Workplace Environment Changes and Safety – 0704-WECS

B. COLLECTIONS OF INFORMATION EMPLOYING STATISTICAL METHODS

  1. Description of the Activity

The activities under this clearance involve samples of self-selected government contractors who are tenants of the Pentagon, Mark Center, and other National Capital Region (NCR) leased facilities. The results will not be used to make statements representative of the population of the study or to generalize the data beyond the scope of the sample. The specific sample planned for each individual collection and the method for soliciting participation will be described fully in each collection request.

The samples associated with this collection are not subject to the same scrutiny as scientifically drawn samples where estimates are published or otherwise released to the public.

Survey Population: 240

  1. Procedures for the Collection of Information

Information will be collected using the Interactive Customer Evaluation (ICE) system as a platform. Data will be used to gain insight on customers’ perspectives of the new environment and feelings on teleworking and returning to work.

  1. Maximization of Response Rates, Non-response, and Reliability

To maximize the response rate, the survey was created online for quick and easy access. The survey limits the number of questions asked to encourage participation and reduce non-completion. Reminders will be sent to the agency Point of Contacts (POCs) to increase participation. As well, a memo signed by Chief Management Officer (CMO) will be provided along with the request for participation.

  1. Tests of Procedures

Piloting was performed with internal government staff, who are familiar with teleworking and changes taking place in the building.

  1. Statistical Consultation and Information Analysis

The ICE system has undergone extensive development to allow it to easily generate and report basic descriptive statistics. ICE programming expertise is provided by: Tapan Suthar (703-697-2316), and input regarding survey design and methods is provided by Ms. Julia Shmirkin (571-340-2346) and Dr. Kena Mayberry (703-697-1213).
