Abstract: The National Youth Tobacco Survey (NYTS) is a self-administered, annual, cross-sectional survey of U.S. students enrolled in 6th through 12th grades who attend public and private schools. It is conducted in the spring semester of each school year (typically February-May). The NYTS collects information on student use of various tobacco products, knowledge of and attitudes toward tobacco, exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke and secondhand e-cigarette aerosol, exposure to pro- and anti-tobacco influences, and other tobacco-related measures. This revision includes an increase to the number of school districts and schools contacted to adjust further for nonresponse in meeting target sample size and an increase in the number of respondents for instrument testing to allow more cognitive testing than the previously approved collection.
