CDC colleaguesPlease accept this email as an official invitation for a CDC team to conduct an in-depth epidemiological investigation to address a COVID-19
outbreak at the Cook County Jail located in Chicago, IL. The jail has ~5000 detainees and ~1500 Dept of Correction employees. We are in need of
additional analytic resources to better understand the linkages between ill detainees and staff to inform additional cohorting recommendations
and testing strategy. We would also like to better understand demographics and risk factors for COVID cases among detainees and
staff. Stephanie Black, Medical Director of Communicable Disease Program at Chicago Department of Public Health, and Isaac Ghinai, Epidemic
Intelligence Service Officer, assigned to Chicago (CDPH) as primary and Illinois (IDPH) as secondary, will be the CDC team’s POCs. Please let us know
if you need any additional information.
