Appendix G.2

FNS Response to National Agricultural Statistics Service Comments

In response to NASS comments, some minor adjustments were made to the supporting statements and appendices. The comments and FNS response to each are summarized below.

Supporting Statement Part B

  • The reviewer asked that we clarify whether we were proposing a full census of all 67 State Agency directors and, if so, change the wording in Table B1.1 to not say sample, which implies a proper subset.

    • FNS response: Additional clarification has been added to the supporting statement and the column in question in Table B1.1 has been deleted to avoid confusion.

Appendix E1

  • The reviewer stated that the paragraph that starts out as “For SY 2020-21,” is long and has a lot of commas. To increase effectiveness of the pre-study email and other materials, try to keep things clear and concise.

    • FNS response: All materials have been carefully reviewed for clarity and conciseness, as well as consistency with the statutory requirements reflected.

  • The reviewer stated that the paragraph starting out as “This important study will capture,” should have “congressionally” lower case since it isn’t the title of the mandate.

    • FNS response: Capitalization of “congressionally” has been corrected throughout the appendices.

Appendix E4

  • The reviewer questioned the assertion that results “may be presented by State” and asked why State was capitalized.

    • FNS response: The assertion that results may be presented by State is correct. While most of the results are expected to be presented in the aggregate, some may be presented by State. State is capitalized because it refers to a distinct political entity.
