NASS serves the department and U.S. agriculture as the primary statistical data collection
organization within USDA. With regard to statistics on hemp, we are working with several
USDA programmatic agencies including USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA), Risk
Management Agency (RMA), Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) and the Economic
Research Service (ERS) to understand the department’s needs in providing better services to the
public.
Some of your comments refer to specific programmatic issues. We will forward those to the
appropriate agency for consideration. You may also be interested in AMS’s public engagement
and rulemaking website on hemp for further background.
NASS looks forward to collecting data relevant to your industry and make the data as useful as
possible for all stakeholders. Your comments and the comments of other members of the public
