20XX Annual Survey of U.S. Direct Investment Abroad – BE-11
The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) is conducting the 20XX Annual Survey of U.S. Direct
Investment Abroad (BE-11), a mandatory survey that collects data from U.S. companies in order to produce
timely economic statistics.
A U.S. person or business enterprise is required by law to submit the survey to BEA if it owned or
controlled 10 percent or more of the voting interest in a foreign business enterprise at the end of the fiscal
year that ended in calendar year 20XX. The information you report on the survey is CONFIDENTIAL and
will be used only for statistical purposes.
The due date of your report is May 31, 20XX. To ensure timely receipt of your reports, we encourage
you to file electronically using BEA's secure eFile system (www.bea.gov/eFile) or faxing your response to
us at (301) 278-9502, as we have limited capacity to receive paper mail. If this is your first time using eFile
the username you establish can be linked to the BE-11 survey using the BE-11 ID number shown at the top
of this letter. If you own an affiliate not listed in eFile that meets the reporting requirements for the survey,
select the “new affiliate” option. If you received this notification but are not required to report, you must
submit the Claim for Not Filing by the due date.
