Section 4, Land Use Practices, Precision Ag – Question added. (Previously approved by SET)
Previously proposed in Section 25, Practices but space did not allow.
Section 4, Land Use Practices, Irrigation
5-year question removed.
Acres with irrigation systems or equipment question added.
Intention question added.
Irrigation questions slightly reworded and order changed.
Section 7, Personal Characteristics
“Is the person completing the form?” removed.
Principal operator questions, removed. (Previously approved by SET)
Is this person a principal operator or senior partner?
Is this person the spouse of a principal operator or senior partner?
Item 3d, marketing decisions, added.
Section 10, Field Crops
Hemp by utilization added.
Sugarcane for seed dropped. Sugarcane for sugar dropped. Sugarcane for sugar or seed added.
Section 10, Field Crops; Section 11, Nursery; Section 12, Vegetables
Sweet corn for seed was removed from Field Crops.
Vegetable seeds grown in the open will not be valid in the Nursery Section.
Vegetable seeds grown in the open will be reported under a specific vegetable in the Vegetable Section.
Section 11, Nursery
Hemp items added.
Sod harvested was changed to Sod harvested or intended for sale in future years.
Section 12, Vegetables, added crops are gourds and parsnips. Squash categories were combined.
Section 13, Fruit, Nuts, and Berries, added crops are longan, lychees, paw paws, rambutan, gooseberries, and mulberries. Raspberries were combined. Temple oranges were deleted as a separate item and will now be included with tangerines.
Section 17, Sheep and Goats, Hair sheep or wool-hair crosses item added.
Section 25, Practices, Types of internet access were updated.
Section 26, Food Marketing Practices, Marketing channels were split into four categories.
In 2017, there were two (1. Consumers; 2. Retail Markets, Institutions, or Food Hubs for Local or Regionally Branded Products).
Section 28, Renewable Energy, two categories were removed.
Biodiesel production system and Ethanol production system.

Section 4, Land Use Practices
Wording of 2b and 2c tillage questions have changed. The meanings remain as intended in 2017.
Section 4, Irrigation
Recommended that Irrigation have a separate section if there is enough space on the page.
Section 6, Type of Organization
Households sharing net farm income was moved up from the last question to the second question.
Separated Legal Status: Other into three categories. The breakouts will not be published.
Section 9, Woodland Crops, Specify box added for short rotation woody crops.
Section 10, Field Crops
Preprints added for corn for grain or seed, soybeans for beans, and winter wheat for grain or seed.
“All hay including alfalfa and other – report in SECTION 8” added
Hops changed to be collected to the tenth acre.
Section 11, Nursery, Vegetable transplants to farm fields was moved from Propagative Materials Sold to Food Crops Grown Under Glass or Other Protection.
Section 21, Other Livestock and Section 22, Livestock Products
These were one section in 2017 but were separated into two sections for the Content Test.
Slight rewording for mink and pelts.
Section 23, Production Contracts, the Other Crops line was removed. There are now two lines for “Vegetables and other crops”. Vegetables previously had one line.
Section 25, Practices, Internet access
Move the internet access questions to the first item in the section.
Section 30, Labor, Changing the order of the questions was tested in the 2020 Content Test but not accepted (unpaid, hired, and migrant).
The order of labor questions for 2022 was changed to hired, migrant, then unpaid.
