Dear Dr. Fixler and Ms. Burrell,
Thank you for your letter of continued support of NASS surveys. The Annual Floriculture survey
is a very important part of the overall NASS program. Many of the floriculture producers are
located in ag-urban areas which are not represented by most of our traditional agricultural surveys
conducted by NASS. For some States and counties, the floriculture industry is extremely
important to their local economies. Accurate, timely data are also very important to this industry
and many government agencies. NASS is expanding the survey this year to include all 50 states. In
addition, some adjustments have been made to the particular varieties of plants included in the
survey based on results from the previous Census of Horticulture.
We will keep you informed of any modifications.
