Thank you for your letter of support for USDA’s efforts to collect data to understand
conservation practices within the United States.
As mentioned in the Federal Register Notice (July 2, 2021), USDA’s National Agricultural
Statistics Service (NASS) will work with USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service
(NRCS) on this project. We will share your letter with the suggestion of including specifics,
related to the types of conservation practices being implemented along with location data, that
represents where such practices were implemented within a given field, to the interagency
Conservation Practice Adoption Motivations Survey team for consideration.
Thanks to comments from the public, NASS hopes to improve the data collection and make the
data as useful to the public as possible.
