YOU AR PROVIDING THIS EXPENSIVE SURVEY TO NON PROFITS SO THEY DONT HAVE TO SPEND THEIR MONEY TO GET IT. WHY ARE TAXPAYERS THE FALL GUY HERE SPENDING THEIR TAX DOLLARS ON THIS INFORMATION SO THAT HANGERS ON CAN GET IT FREE. THERE APPEARS TO BE NO REAAL REASON TO COLLECT THIS INFORMATION CERTAINLY MEDICARE IS ALREADY COLLECTING HEALTH INFORMATION. WHY DO WE NEED SO MANY DUPLICATE AGENCIES COLLECTING THE SAMEINFORMATION? IS THIS A MAKE WORK PROJECT TO KEEP JOBS GOING IN THIS FAT CAT BUREAUCRACY? I AM IN FAVOR OF BANNING THIS COLLECTION OF INFORMATION AND NOT DOING THIS COLLECTION ANYMORE. EVEN IF YOU DID IT, WHY EVERY SINGLE YEAR WHEN EVERY 5 OR 7 YEARS IS MORE THAN OFTEN ENOUGH.CLEARLY THIS IS A COMPLETE WASTE OF AMERICAN TAX DOLLARS.

since the u.s. taxpayers just paid for you to have 3 years to collect data. have you analyzed what you have collected yet to see if it has any validity. where is the research on this 3 years of study paid for by u.s. taxpayers. why are you seeking to do more when you have not analyzed what you have gotten so far out of th ehides of taxpayers who paid for this so you coul dhave jobs. makes no sense to keep doing this when you have not analyzed what you have. shut down this out of control spending. this agency deserves a grade of f minus. what it does just never never ever makes sense. it exists as a spending crap shoot.
it plays to big pharma and big medicine and lets national health go down the tube. we have more americans dying earlier than ever before in the history of the company and we are spending more on health care than ever before in any century.

shows the inefficiency, waste at the cdc. which stinks and sucks. nih no better when you find out the horrible way they abuse animals and the results of that abuse isnt even transferable to humans. we have sick psychos in this field operating without sound judgment.

I am writing in support of continuing the National Hospital Discharge Survey. The CDC data collected voluntarily from hospitals about inpatients, emergency room visits and discharges across the country has led to a database that informs not only the CDC but providers and patients. This important data set informs the nations healthcare goals and it is imperative that it remain current.

As a Nurse Practitioner working with cardiac, vascular and thoracic surgery patients for the last 19 years, I often use the Healthy People 2020 website to illustrate to my patients the many factors that contribute to cardiovascular disease. This website uses statistics gained from the National Hospital Discharge Survey as well as many other national health surveys to understand the state of healthcare in the US. It then advocates strategies for health promotion.

Some have claimed that despite studying the problem, the United States has a lower life expectancy than other western nations and therefore we should not waste time and money on this survey. But we wont find solutions without data. These data can be used to convince local governments to fund programs to improve outcomes such as stroke symptom awareness initiatives and community blood pressure screening. The National Hospital Discharge Survey costs participants nothing more than time and provides vital information that serves the health interests of the of the country.

The National Hospital Discharge Survey has been conducted annually since 1965. Since 2010, there have been improvements to link information from the emergency department, outpatient department, and ambulatory surgery centers as well. This data is invaluable to the health care sector and can be used in many ways.

I am a nurse studying for my Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, which has a focus on quality improvement in the clinical setting. Throughout my studies I have learned how valuable data can be in order to impact patient care. The data collected from this survey can be evaluated and analyzed by the CDC as well as other agencies to find where the gaps in health care exist. By allowing this information to be utilized, new recommendations and regulations can be created. This is important to me as an advanced practice nurse as we are always striving to provide the best care possible to our patients. This data can also be transformed into valuable educational information for the public to influence their health habits. The CDC has many resources for patients in non-medical terms and much of that information comes from this survey

This survey should be continued as it has been for the last 53 years. With the recent improvements listed above, even more data is available through the use of this survey and we should continue to collect and utilize it.
