ASPA COVID-19 PUBLIC EDUCATION CAMPAIGN

A campaign to increase vaccine acceptance and reinforce basic prevention measures

CET – Annotated Questionnaire (Wave 12)

Note: The questions below are the proposed questions for the twelfth wave of the Weekly Current Events Tracker (CET). Questions highlighted in yellow will be asked every week; questions highlighted in blue will be rotated into the survey on a monthly basis; and questions highlighted in green are meant to be asked in Wave 12 only or are being asked again to update data on a variable of interest. This wave’s module is Vaccine Knowledge and Preferences. This week we have added questions on any knowledge of Johnson & Johnson vaccine issues and message testing around COVID-19 vaccines in general.

ASPA will provide OMB with updates to the questionnaire for subsequent Waves.

We are interested in your opinion of a few messages about COVID-19 vaccination.

For each of the below statements, please consider the following message:

Safety is our top priority. The FDA and CDC paused distribution of J&J out of an abundance of caution so they could investigate 6 cases of an extremely rare blood clot disorder that were reported out of 6.85 million J&J vaccinations.”

We are interested in your opinion of a few messages about COVID-19 vaccination.

For each of the below statements, please consider the following message:

The J&J vaccine pause is an example of the FDA’s and CDC’s extensive safety monitoring systems working as they were designed to work. These monitoring systems prompted the pause in J&J vaccine distribution to allow for further investigation while fully informing the public and healthcare providers.

We are interested in your opinion of a few messages about COVID-19 vaccination.

For each of the below statements, please consider the following message:

The pause will not significantly impact vaccine distribution in the United States. Pfizer and Moderna use a different vaccine platform than J&J and continue to be administered. Together, these 2 vaccines have been safely administered over 100 million times and represent 95% of the vaccines distributed to date. We have ample supply of those vaccines.
