Hawaii 2017 aquaculture sales
totaled $76.4 million and are
slightly up from the previous year,
according to USDA, National
Agricultural Statistics Service.
Algae contributed $35.2 million
and accounted for 46 percent of
the total sales. The “Other”
category comprised the remaining
54 percent. Aquaculture sales
continued to hold steady after a
record high in 2014. The peak
number of hired workers on the
payroll was 462 for 2017, as
reported by the producers.
