Data Collection Overview – Tools and Timing

Comparison group participants complete the pre-survey	Late spring	Timing for the comparison group’s completion of pre-surveys will coincide with the first set of Summer 2022 REU participants’ completion of pre-surveys.
REU PI completes the Time 1 PI REU Information Form REU participants complete the pre-survey	Prior to REU start (starting late spring; rolling start dates based on individual REU project start dates)
REU PI completes the Time 2 PI REU Information Form REU participants complete the post-survey	End of REU (approximately 10 weeks later)
Comparison group participants complete the follow-up survey	Approximately one year after pre-survey completion	Timing for the comparison group’s completion of follow-up surveys will coincide with the first set of Summer 2022 REU participants’ completion of follow-up surveys. Four versions of the follow-up surveys are included, to reflect different career/education pathways that respondents could have taken: Undergraduate version Graduate student version Non-student version Non-degree-seeking student
