ASPA COVID-19 PUBLIC EDUCATION CAMPAIGN

A campaign to increase vaccine acceptance and reinforce basic prevention measures

CET – Annotated Questionnaire (Wave 55)

Note: The questions below are the proposed questions for the fifty-fifth wave of the Weekly Current Events Tracker (CET). Questions highlighted in yellow will be asked every week; questions highlighted in blue will be rotated into the survey on a monthly basis; and questions highlighted in green are meant to be asked in this wave only or are being asked again to update data on a variable of interest. We will be fielding questions about reasons for not getting vaccinated or boosted, perceptions of side effects, the Omicron BA.2 variant, COVID risk factors, and preventive behavior.

For the next section we would like to talk about current events.

I am still debating whether I need to get it.

I think it is unnecessary.

I doubt that booster shots are effective at preventing severe illness from COVID.

I am concerned about side effects.

It is unclear how many booster shots we will end up needing and I do not want to keep getting doses.

I think I am still protected from COVID-19 by the initial dose(s) of the vaccine.

I think I am still protected from COVID-19 because of natural immunity.

I am healthy and not concerned about COVID-19.

I do not trust the information I am getting from government authorities about booster shots.

10

I do not trust the information I am getting from doctors about booster shots.

COVID vaccines help prevent severe illness, hospitalization, and death, and a booster gives you an extra layer of protection.

ptn_w55_1: Extra layer of protection

ptn_w55_2

50 million adults in the U.S. have not had a wellness exam in the last year. These adults may have undetected conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes, putting them at higher risk for severe COVID if they aren’t vaccinated.

ptn_w55_2: High blood pressure

ptn_w55_3

Recent studies have found serious increases in the risk for many kinds of cardiovascular disease in COVID survivors, even in people who weren’t hospitalized with COVID.

ptn_w55_3: Risk of cardiovascular disease

ptn_w55_4

If you've had your COVID booster, you're better protected against COVID than vaccinated people who haven't gotten a booster.

ptn_w55_4: Booster is better

ptn_w55_5

Most children recover from COVID without getting very sick—but just like adults, even healthy children can get seriously ill from COVID, and they can end up in the hospital.

ptn_w55_5: Even healthy kids
