HRSA: Tree Testing Plan

About

This tree testing plan outlines our approach for conducting usability testing on the updated information architecture (IA) of the HRSA.gov website’s funding section.

We created the IA based on user research findings and recommendations from grant subject matter experts. This will inform how we improve the website.

Included in a separate attachment: the test instrument, including text of the script and screenshots from the test tool.

Objectives

Determine if the updated information architecture is intuitive for users and helps them effectively complete these key tasks:

  • Determine eligibility for HRSA funding

  • Find key details and contact information for upcoming, open, and closed HRSA funding opportunities

  • Apply for HRSA funding opportunities

  • Track HRSA funding application

  • Register as a HRSA grant reviewer

Assumptions

All test participants are familiar with the HRSA organization and HRSA funding.

Participants

  • Test with up to 30 users of the funding section of HRSA.gov. Types of participants include:

    • Current and former HRSA funding recipients

    • Prospective HRSA funding recipients

  • HRSA will recruit test participants.

Approach

  • Remote sessions will last between 15-20 minutes using Optimal Workshop.

  • When the study begins, we’ll email a link to participants for them to complete on their own time.

  • The tests will be unmoderated.

  • Forum One will create a detailed testing plan.

  • HRSA will submit the plan and testing tool to OMB for approval.
