Dear [Site name] volunteers,
Thank you for all of your work so far this tax season! As you may know, our program participates in the
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB) Tax-Time Savings initiative, which supports efforts by tax
preparation sites to encourage taxpayers who receive refunds to save some or all of these funds.
The CFPB is interested in collecting information from participating tax programs about volunteers’
experiences with participating in training related to tax-time savings, their experiences with taxpayers,
and their feedback on what strategies and approaches might be most effective in encouraging taxpayers
who get refunds to save.
This is where you come in! A member of the CFPB research team would like to speak with volunteers
from our program during a one-hour focus group, to be scheduled during a day and time that is
convenient for participants. During this discussion, the CFPB wants to hear directly from you about your
experiences as a volunteer during tax season.
If you are willing to participate in a focus group, please go to this link: XXXX to submit your contact
information. A member of the CFPB research team will be reaching out to you soon to schedule a
discussion with interested volunteers from our program.
I strongly encourage you to consider volunteering for this opportunity – this is your chance to share your
opinions about what has been successful and where you see challenges with promoting tax time savings.
The opinions you share will help CFPB better understand savings promotion strategies from the
volunteer perspective, and how CFPB can most effectively support those efforts.
Your time and feedback is greatly appreciated!
Thank you for all that you do,
[Site lead]
