Re: Public comment and recommendations for proposed data collection National HIV Behavioral
Surveillance: Brief HIV Bio-behavioral Assessment (NHBS-BHBA) - [60 Day–FRN; Docket No. CDC2022-0064]
Dear Kiera Johnson,
Thank you for your comments and request for additional information about NHBS-BHBA. In your
comments you requested release of information about the locations and populations that will be studied
for NHBS-BHBA.
We are unable to provide that information at this time because the locations and populations are not
predetermined. NHBS-BHBA is intended to be flexible and allow for funded states to make these
decisions based on their needs assessments and input from their advisory groups. For each year of data
collection throughout the cooperative agreement, funded states will identify at least two priority
populations at increased risk for HIV infection in specific geographic areas.
We appreciate your review and support for this project.
Sincerely,
Cyprian Wejnert, PhD
Lead, Behavioral Surveillance Team
